Access to Library Resources from Off Campus

Our goal is to offer every resource we can both on and off-campus. Some vendors, such as Drug Facts and Comparison, will not allow off-campus access. For others, there may be technical reasons that we cannot. You can access nearly all our electronic journals. Check the USP Journal List.

To be able to link to our resources, you will need your USP network username and password. If you have never logged on to the campus network, your username consists of your first initial and your last name (no caps); your password consists of your initials and the last four numbers of your social security.

Please do not give your password to non-USP people. To do so means that your connect time will be slower; there will be times when you cannot access databases; and it may result in your losing your access privileges.

Need an Article from the Library's Print Collection?

If the article you want is not available online and we have a print subscription, we'll send it to you for a $3 charge. You can order the article through ILLiad by filling out the online request form. Please note your student ID # and the number of your experiential learning course in the “Notes” field of the form. Need the article today? If we need to drop everything to send it to you, there's a $10 charge.

Need an Article from Another Library?

If the library doesn't own an item, we will make an interlibrary loan request to another institution at no charge, just as we would do if you were on campus. Use our new system, ILLiad. It requires you to do a one-time set up to create an account, and then has an easy online form for you to fill out.

Interlibrary loan requests can take up to two weeks to receive, so please allow time for processing when making your request. Books can be mailed to your home or work address. Journal articles can be mailed or sent as PDF attachments to your e-mail account. Rush items are subject to a $10 processing fee.

Need Drug Information?

As part of our arrangement with Micromedex, USP faculty and students can download MobileMicromedex to their PDAs. While on campus, go to Micromedex (from the A-Z list of electronic resources on the library's home page ). On the Micromedex page, click on the tab labeled "Formularies and Hand-helds" and follow the directions. The state of Pennsylvania provides the drug database, Clinical Pharmacology, to users of public libraries who participate in Access Pa. If you have a public library card that has an "Access PA" icon on it, go to your public library website and look for "Power Library." Clinical Pharmacology will be one of the choices.
