Find Articles
The J.W. England Library provides access to over 60 electronic databases, most containing journal articles and other resources. Search databases by subject, keyword, author, etc., to find both primary and secondary articles. Your search is likely to yield both full-text articles linked directly through the database, or citations to materials available in print.
Points to keep in mind:
- Journal titles—not the articles themselves—are listed in TDNet, the USP journal list of print and electronic titles.
- If we do not own a journal that contains the article you need, it can be obtained through ILLIAD, the Library’s interlibrary loan utility.
- Another local library may own the particular journal title that you need. Click here for a listing of area libraries that permit USP students, faculty, and staff to use their collections, and for further information on visitor guidelines.
Start with a high-quality database, such as…
- MEDLINE covers the fields of medicine, drug research and therapeutics, nursing and allied health, dentistry, the health care system, the preclinical sciences, etc. abstracts. You can get into Medline via PubMed or Ovid.
- Research Library Complete is an excellent database that has both scholarly and popular articles on a broad range of topics.
