I am a second-year pharmacy student. I chose USP because of the direct entry pharmacy program. The program here is challenging, but when students graduate, they have so many opportunities. I was intimidated by the work, but I learned you have to stay positive and use all the resources available to you like tutoring and professors office hours. If you do that, then you’re good!

Education is top priority at University of the Sciences. I am a third-year physical therapy major and also a member of the SPTA, the Student Physical Therapy Association. I love my major, and I love that the program is direct entry. The faculty here works hard to accommodate students, and they truly care about our success in the classroom and beyond.

It is challenging being a second-year pharmacy student and a Division II athlete on the baseball team, but I wouldn’t change a thing. At University of the Sciences, I have met great new friends, competed in college athletics, and learned a lot about my field of study. A pretty busy life, but good time management and discipline help guide me towards a successful college experience.

I would consider myself an “artistic scientist,” that is why I chose the humanities and science major. The courses use English and liberal arts to explain science. This major gives me a broad education and will also help me achieve success on my MCAT or Medical College Admission Test.

SGA, Student Government Association, helps make my college experience more memorable. I represent my class and I am involved in campus activities. As a senator in SGA, I am directly involved in changes being made on campus. I get to hear the opinions and issues that my fellow classmates have and make sure they are addressed. SGA helps make our campus a better place for everyone.

I really enjoy exercising and taking a break from schoolwork, so I work in the ARC, Athletic/Recreation Center. I play a lot of intramurals and even won a championship in floor hockey last year. The team got a championship t-shirt, a medal, and our photo taken for the University’s website. My mom printed it out and posted it on the fridge at home! Intramural sports are a fun way for me to break out of school mode.

The University is a close-knit community and located in a large city. I love both! I like to hang out with friends in the quad or study in the McNeil Science and Technology Center. Exploring Philadelphia is always fun too. There are lots of things to do in and around the University City area. The University makes for a nice community environment, and you can’t beat the social scene in Philly.

I was born and raised in a city, but in high school, my family moved to a suburb which gives me the ability to compare life styles. From a city girl view, the Philadelphia location is like living in a large city, bursting with life and possibilities. From a suburbia point of view, University of the Sciences gives off that kind of “homey” vibe. It helps make the transition into city life easier on you. The University’s location offers a variety of opportunities for all different people.

Moving from Illinois to Philadelphia was challenging. I definitely get homesick sometimes, but you adapt quickly to the campus environment and that helps make the transition a lot easier. Being far away from home helped me to become more independent, and I am very involved here at the University. Plus, my school work keeps me busy too!

After I was accepted, I was still undecided whether I wanted to come to University of the Sciences. I decided to attend an Accepted Student Day which solidified my decision. One of the professors spoke about the history and reputation that the school holds in the medical field and the central location among many of the best hospitals in the nation. I know that coming here was the best decision for me. I am in a place where I can grow both personally and professionally, and prepare for medical school.
